Last Friday, Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman explained to his readers around the country why this is not “your father’s recession.” This week, the North Carolina Budget and Tax Center is out with some new numbers on the state fiscal crisis that make clear that this is not your father’s (or your mother’s) state budget shortfall either. Even with the relief included in the federal stimulus bill, the picture is decidedly un-rosy.
