The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Education posted its budget targets today and the news is grim. Here are some of the low-lights:
-The Senate would expand the House cut in K-12 education from $694 million to $800 million.
-The cut to community colleges would rise from $111 million to $130 million.
-The cut to the UNC system would be reduced from $447 million to $360 million.
-Overall, the cut to the state education budget would grow from $1.25 billion to $1.29 billion.
