North Carolina’s post-secondary education has consistently been recognized as one of the best in the nation, providing the training for participation in the economy and civic life. Over the course of the Great Recession, cuts to both the university and community college system have impacted the educational experience of students and ultimately has implications for the ability of North Carolinians to achieve economic security and the economy to prosper. The Budget and Tax Center has reported on the troubling decline in state investment in post-secondary education and in this infographic puts forward the case for closing the cracks in this critical public structure.
