General Assembly leadership needs to stop micromanaging UNC, it’s threating the unity of the 16 campus system. Agree or Disagree?

We need to preserve the Universiity System under the Board of Governors. When I read in the most recent UNC Alumni Magazine a letter from Ed Yoder that he thinks otherwise my conviction was strengthened.

The arrogant, elititist, pompous asses at UNC and NC State again display their hubris. It has always been about the money. These folks believe these institutions exist for the sole purpose of giving them employment rather than providing a decent education for their students. Better they should concentrate on providing decent learning experiences for their students than promoting bigger and better ways to line their pockets. Enough already.

There should be no tinkering with the University System under the Board of Governors. This 16-campus system is one of the
most outstanding assets in North Carolina’s education system. In Freidman’s book “The World is Flat” gives an understanding of how far behind
the U.S. is ranked in educating our youth in contrast to Russia, China, and India. These countries have put education at the top of the list and,
with globalization, our students should be able to compete.

Please do not tinker with our University system under the Board of Governors. Our higher education system is one of the state’s most
outstanding assets. And, some states have duplicated NC’s system as a paradigm for higher education. If you have not, please read
Friedman’s book “The World is Flat” which gives an understanding of how far behind the U.S. in contrast to Russia, China and India in educating
our youth. These countries place education at the top of their list.
