Lawmakers standing with Black

General Assembly Reps. Joe Tolson and Jean Farmer Butterfield say they’re standing behind besieged House Speaker Jim Black.
"He’s done a great job as speaker. I look at the things he’s done, like getting the lottery through and what he’s done for education. There’s not a more solid person for education than Jim Black," Tolson said.
While both legislators are backing Black, numerous critics want Black to resign his position in the House. Several Web sites have been created, including www.jimblackmustgo.com, calling for him to leave the legislature. Several North Carolina newspapers, including The Wilson Daily Times, have called for Black’s resignation. (more…)
