Bush to target health insurance costs

Jimmy Kizer says finding affordable health insurance for his employees is a complicated juggling act.
“Every year the costs go up,” said Kizer, who is part-owner of an engineering and surveying company in Fayetteville. “So you change companies or play with deductibles. But eventually you have to increase the amount that employees pay.”
In his State of the Union ad dress tonight, President Bush will speak about national health-care costs that are climbing four times faster than the rate of inflation and causing higher insurance premiums for companies, higher out-of-pocket costs for workers and a growing number of people who are uninsured.
Health-care costs have historically risen faster than inflation, said Chris Conover, an assistant research professor for the Duke Center of Health Policy. (more…)
