Quit bickering, look for solutions

The energy U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry and Gov. Mike Easley put into trading barbs would be better used on finding a solution to the water transfer controversy.
McHenry created a task force to address the proposal to take water from the Catawba River and pipe it to Cabarrus County. He wants a meeting with Easley.
Easley says he can’t do anything, that the Environmental Management Commission is solely responsible for the final decision.
McHenry accuses him of ducking out. Easley charges McHenry is grandstanding.
Both represent the people. Both have considerable influence. Their input could affect the EMC’s decision.
McHenry represents much of the Catawba River population, but this is not a federal matter. (more…)
