Reports show Wright campaign didn’t report receiving $119,000

RALEIGH, N.C. — Political committees have reported more than 270 donations to Rep. Thomas Wright’s campaign totaling more than $119,000 that the campaign hasn’t reported, the Star-News of Wilmington reported Friday.
The committees reported giving the campaign $311,954 since 1992, but Wright only reported $183,753 of those contributions, according to the newspapers’ review of campaign finance reports.
Another $8,234 donated by the committees were reported by Wright, D-New Hanover, but the amounts he reported receiving differed from the amounts listed by the committees.
Some of the unreported donations may have ended up with Wright’s campaign committee or the checks could have been lost. However, some donors said their checks cleared. (more…)
