N.C. General Assembly may include farmland preservation funding in budget

With the recent development that has happened in North Carolina in the past several years, the push to preserve open farmland has been building momentum.
This year it appears the N.C. General Assembly may include funding for farmland preservation programs in the budget so there may be an opportunity to get the Rowan County Farmland Protection Program started back. Funding may be used for paying closing costs associated with donated easements as well a local match for the purchase of development rights. (more…)
