Find a compromise on immigration reform

The U.S. Senate has the opportunity to lead the nation by passing a bipartisan compromise immigration reform measure that includes provisions for agricultural guest workers.
The bill being debated is a true compromise. Its measures secure our borders while allowing guest workers regulated entry to perform jobs that American citizens do not wish to do.
Sens. Richard Burr and Elizabeth Dole must become involved in the debate and advance the issue.
I also urge North Carolinians who are concerned about a safe, affordable American food supply to tell the senators that we must have a guest-worker program for agriculture.
Enforcement-only measures without guest-worker provisions would result in a $260 million annual direct hit to North Carolina farmers. (more…)
