Questions surround scholarships

// < ![CDATA[ OAS_AD('Middle'); // ]]> RALEIGH — A foundation linked to a key group of lawmakers acknowledged Thursday that it gave scholarships to the relatives of five of those legislators.
The N.C. Legislative Black Caucus is made up of the African American members of the General Assembly. A foundation that bears the same name raises money for scholarships and an annual educational weekend. Members of the caucus have served as the foundation’s officers and are on its board, according to tax forms filed by the group.
Rep. Alma Adams, a Greensboro Democrat, took over leadership of both the caucus and its foundation earlier this year. She said Thursday her daughter was among five relatives of legislators who received scholarships from the foundation. (more…)
