A $20 million misunderstanding?

Gov. Mike Easley’s spokesmen are insisting the state won’t offer $20 million in “incentives” to keep that race track in Concord.
But apparently the governor’s people need to explain that to the track’s billionaire owner and the chairman of the Cabarrus County Commissioners. As of Monday, they were still saying they expected $20 million from the state, in addition to $60 million dipped from the coffers of Cabarrus.
The $60 million was the owner’s price for not moving his track elsewhere in the Charlotte region, or possibly across the state line. (Where it’s doubtful it would have been appreciated; people who would put mustard in their “barbecue” can’t be trusted to understand, much less appreciate, the subtleties of stock car racing.) more…
