Money should have been put in budget

To The Editor: I wonder why the money needed to pay the school bond fund debt service was not put into this year’s budget?If it was needed, the county commissioners had every opportunity to include it before the tax millage was set and the budget approved. Did they know another way to pay it?I believe the budget was approved before the state voted to give the counties an option on the land transfer tax or the sales tax increase.It seems to me they missed the boat. This issue should have been dealt with during the budget process. As our growth continues, we will continue to need new schools, but you cannot expect retired homeowners on fixed incomes to pay constantly rising taxes to fund schools. more…
