Moore begins campaigning

North Carolina needs to be ready for change, said State Treasurer Richard Moore on Tuesday.
“Change is coming at us,” he said. “North Carolina doesn’t need to be afraid.”
Moore was feted with a southern barbecue at Browder Park as he begins his Democratic bid for governor. The Richmond County Committee for Richard Moore hosted the dinner.
“We need a new kind of leadership,” Moore said.
Moore asked for the opportunity to be governor and promised to work hard to meet the challenges.
Bill Webb, a member of the Richmond County Committee for Richard Moore, introduced the treasurer and said he has the experience North Carolina is looking for in a leader.
During Moore’s time as the head of the Secretary of the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, Webb said Moore oversaw hurricane relief efforts.
Moore said there were seven major hurricanes during his tenure.
“We worked very hard to make sure North Carolina responded when people needed us,” he said. more…
