Senior legislators take issues to Raleigh

Shallotte Alderman Jim Roach remembers being curious the first time he saw the term Senior Tar Heel Legislature.
“There was a little item in one of those papers that come to the house. I had no idea what it was, or what they did,” he said.
While it piqued his interest, he didn’t give it much thought until he was appointed six years ago to serve on the Brunswick Senior Resources board of directors, followed by an invitation to apply to become a Senior Tar Heel legislator himself.
“I thought, why not?” Roach said and he began an experience that has encompassed distance, time and patience that only dealings with Raleigh provide. more…
