Jim Hunt now turns to environmental issues

RALEIGH — Jim Hunt says that one of the things that he regrets about his leadership as governor is not moving to make improvements in the environment.
Hunt, a Democrat from Wilson, was governor from 1977-1985. After taking eight years off, he again served as governor from 1993-2001.
The former governor can’t be accused of not providing leadership on the environment these days. Hunt annually spearheads a forum held at N.C. State University’s McKimmon Center called the Emerging Issues Forum. This year’s forum is on energy.
And much of the focus will be on green energy, or environmentally friendly energy. (more…)
