A Blueprint for American Prosperity

Increasing global competition, economic restructuring at home, rapid population growth, and other forces are rewriting the rules for how we produce jobs, build wealth, and conserve our natural resources. The ability of our nation to grow and prosper and meet the challenges of our time depends heavily on the health and vitality of our metropolitan areas. The Metropolitan Policy at Brookings has released its Blueprint for American Prosperity, which illustrates that we must leverage our assets through innovation, superior infrastructure, supporting human capital, and finding places for people to live within the metro areas to continue to move our nation forward.

The Urban Land Institute, in partnership with the City of Raleigh's Department of City Planning, is honored to present Bruce Katz of the Brookings Institution to share this vision with our region. While Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and other cities in the Triangle can elect to focus on building their individual economic strengths, to truly be successful they must work together as one region to meet the full potential of a strong Metropolitan area. Our metro area must then work in conjunction with the federal government on issues such as infrastructure, innovation and environmental sustain-ability to ensure a future of prosperity.

Following the presentation, local leaders will kick-off Q&A by posing regionally-relevant questions to this exciting keynote speaker.
